TD
Rick reports: Beautiful warm morning with heavy mist in the valley. 9 players, so
acting TD Ricky B declared three man Ambrose, 2 balls in and loss of one shot
for winning team. Handicaps added and divided by 6.
We had a perfect number for a 3 man Ambrose so the boys
decided that we should play The Curtley Cup.
Team 2 had a narrow win with a Gross score of 31 and net 21.5 vs Team 1 35 gross
and net 22.5
Highlight was Team 1 "birdieing" 15, 16 and 17! And
Team 2 finishing off with a rare birdie on 18.
Olympic performances all round .
Team 2 won 2 balls each and all lost a shot.

The 2024 Draw, Seeding and Rules
TD Tim Becker
C
2024 Winner: Garry Skulander
2024 Final: 20 October 24. Seven SMERGS for the DDD final between Gazza and Nick. The match started with some mediocrity until Gazza started firing with a par on the 13th and a bogey on the next to go 2 up. He stumbled when he couldn't exit the bunker on the 16th to be 1 up heading to the 18th. Nick's drive looked good but was likely stolen by a group of infidels playing the 14th so Nick conceded the hole and Gazza is the 2024 Matchplay Champion. Well done Gazza!

St Nicholas Cup at St Michaels
Wednesday 10 January 2024, 7:30am
Tournament Organiser: Rick Butler
2024 Event:
Fine cloudy morning on a course in great shape with greens just a bit slower
than usual.
Handicaps were SMERGS plus 4 then slope adjusted and just as well in looking at
the scores.
Rick also advised we could adopt the Irish Drop rule for
unexpected lost balls (this excludes balls lost in red penalty areas).
In this case you drop at the
nearest point to where the ball was lost for a two shot penalty.
And again he invoked last
year's new
rule for the 16th (gully) hole: "if
you fail to get over please use the ladies tee (down the path on RHS) as a drop
zone, or elect to play off the ladies tee first for the cost of one
stroke".
(And thank goodness he did!).
And "no gimmes"!
Team event was
decided by simple average Stableford score for the round. We played the
back 9 first.
Prizes awarded as shown below with the overall tie (4 payers with 29 points!) decided using the best second nine score. Well done Nick! And
thanks as always to Rick.|
